Interfaith Encounters - General Study Sessions

MEDABRIM Students' Interfaith Encounter Group on 5th May 2008:

MEDABRIM (=Talking) – Student's Group for Interfaith Encounter at the Hebrew University
Founded by the Interfaith Encounter Association

2nd Encounter: May 5th, 2008

The encounter took place at the charming village "Ein Karem" in Jerusalem. As the university had its semester vacation, not many students attended.

We went down the terraces between grapevines, almond trees and olive trees, alongside an old stone wall. We visited the Church of St. John the Baptist and the Monastery of the Sisters of Our Lady of Zion, where we viewed the scenery of the Jerusalem Mountains.

We heard stories of the village's history, since it was used as the residence of the priests of the Jerusalem Temple, through the rituals of the Roman priestesses around the statue of Adonis, along the crusades and the prayers of the Sufi Muslims who found the village proper for the worship of God.

For the coming encounter –
During the second semester the encounters will take place every two weeks (and not once a month as previously planned). Exact dates will be announced next week.
