Women's Interfaith Encounter

Galilee Women's Interfaith Encounter Renews its Activity on 4th January 2009:

The encounter took place on January 4th 2009, at 7pm in Randa's home in Eilabun.

Six Jewish women arrived: 4 women from Misgav, one from Mitzpe Netofa and one from Tiberius. They were joined by 6 Arab women from the village.

Despite the tense and difficult situation – everyone managed not to discuss politics…

The encounter was held until 9pm and included a break with vegetarian dinner I prepared for the guest women.

After a round of sharing our names I led two activities for deeper acquaintance and we had a very wonderful and moving round in which each of us shared her experience as a mother.

In the center we placed a lighting candle symbolizing our role as mothers who are like candles that give light and hope.

In the second part, after the meal, Lila told the story of Christmas and the Christian women sang Christmas songs.

Then Ruti told us stories related to Hanukah and sang two songs. The evening was very very nice!

As a coordinator I was very happy that the encounter succeeded despite the difficult situation. We all hope very much the encounters will continue.
