Interfaith Encounters - General Study Sessions

Three Encounters of IEA's Arabic Speaking Interfaith Encounter Group - February through April 2008:

Ten Jewish and Arab Educators met on February 6 and discussed together the principles of interreligious activity and the principles of URI.

On March 18 we met again and started to read intensively the writings of Martin Luther King Jr., including translations into Hebrew and Arabic. We also dedicated time to eulogy our friend Jeremy Gishron, who was a loyal member in the group and passed away before his time.

On April 16 the group met again, in the building of the Ministry of Education in Jerusalem, to continue the study of the writings of Martin Luther King and for a conversation about the coming Holidays. We were seven people, of three different faiths: Jews, Muslims and an Armenian,

We read from King's writing and about his life. It was fascinating. We also discuss the enlargement of the group to new audiences. This encounter was run entirely in standard=literary Arabic.

The next encounter was scheduled to Wednesday, May 21, at 16:30 at Yaffa's. Yaffa also invited the participants to celebrate the Mimuna with her 105 year old grandmother.
