TRANSITIONS - Arabic Speaking
Interfaith Encounter on 11th June 2008:
On June 11th 2008, ten members of the Arabic
Speaking Interfaith Encounter gathered at the home of Yaffa Rotstein. The
encounter and conversation, in Arabic, were dedicated to issues of
"Transitions, Endings and Beginnings in Life".
Thanks to the fact that most members of our group deal with teaching and
educating, we could analyze in depth the issues of "end of the school year"
and "beginning of the school year" – for students, teachers and parents.
Transitions in a person's life are sometimes planned and sometimes sudden
and unexpected. Normally the student goes through 5-6 educational frameworks
until his/her 18th year: nursery, kindergarten, pre-school, primary school,
middle school and high school. Sometimes there is a transition between from
one city to another.
The matter of transition is connected to the shaping of the image and
personality of the student. The parents are an inseparable part of the
transition processes and sometimes they initiate them. Educators also move,
frequently, between different teaching frameworks. We reached an agreement
that transitions in life may be difficult at times, but they strengthen the
person.
